Universal Banker I, II, III

Summary:

Serves as a single point of contact for customers with regard to all aspects of the customer’s financial needs, with a primary focus on banking transactions, depository accounts, cash management services and retail loans.  The Universal Banker position is unique in the fact that it is progressive and offers the ability for significant advancement based on experience, proficiency, product knowledge and banker’s ability to fulfill the customer’s needs as follows:

  • Universal Banker I – typically has very little or no prior banking experience. They will be trained first in teller transactions.  Once proficient in teller transactions, they would be trained in deposit products, services, and new accounts. 
    • Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Universal Banker consist of the following:
      • Answers office phone.
      • Sorts and routes incoming mail.
      • Copying or scanning documentation.
      • Prepares outgoing mail and correspondence, including e-mail and faxes.
      • Extensive understanding of bank products and banking capabilities.
      • Display a warm, friendly, and professional nature with customers and co-workers.
      • Serves as a single point of contact for walk-in customers, either assisting them with their banking needs or directing them to the appropriate person.
      • Getting to know the customers and expanding / building relationships.
      • Customer service.
      • Referral skills.
      • Assists with supporting the Compliance and BSA programs of the bank.
      • Complete required on-line training and other training as assigned.
      • Teller transactions which include cash handling skills, processing loan payments, ability to balance cash drawer and the cash vault.
      • Opening new accounts.
      • Community involvement.
      • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Universal Banker II – typically has a minimum of 1-3 years of banking experience and in addition to the Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Universal Banker I, they will take on the following:

    • Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Oversight of branch opening and closing procedures.

      • Assisting with initiation and receipt of wire transactions.

      • Assisting commercial customers with questions regarding cash management services such as wires, ACH transactions, Remote Deposit Capture, online banking, merchant services and such.
      • Training and/or mentoring co-workers with less experience in a given area.
      • Obtain and provide notary services.
      • Thorough understanding of online banking and mobile banking systems with sufficient competency to assist customers in all aspects and navigating and customizing both.
  • Universal Banker III – typically has a minimum of 4-5 years of banking experience and in addition to the to the Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Universal Banker II, they will take on the following:
    • Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
      • Responsibility of training and mentoring new and existing employees.
      • Oversight and approval of wire transactions.
      • Perform testing of banks alarm systems.
      • Conduct teller and vault audits.
      • Extensive knowledge of the Bank’s clientele. They should know most regular customers by name and have a knowledge of the nature of most commercial customer’s businesses with a good understanding of normal business habits and needs. 
      • Complex understanding of benefits and procedural requirements related to the various types of accounts including but not limited to: Various Trust Accounts including IOLTA accounts, Uniform Transfer to Miners or UTMA accounts, and Individual Retirement Accounts.
      • Obtain NMLS # and assist customers with consumer lending needs.
      • Assist customers will all aspects of Remote Deposit Capture including administration, installation, and service.
      • Comprehensive understanding of the various FortuneBank divisions (SBA, Commercial Lending, Mortgage Services, Insurance, and Investments) and the services they offer.
      • Assumption of Assistant Branch Manager and/or Branch Manager duties in their absence.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

Basic personal computers skills required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

There are no supervisory responsibilities for the Universal Bank I or II position.  As a Universal Banker III an employee may be asked to assume a supervisory role in the absence of the Assistant Branch Manager and/or Branch Manager.
