Independent Insurance Agent

Summary:

Prospect and solicit referrals for new insurance business.  Collect information and submit applications for insurance work with underwriting to secure competitive insurance quotes.  Sell policies to insured.  Provide ongoing sales support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Taking insurance applications, quoting rates, or discussing insurance terms with applicants
  • Prepare new and renewal insurance documentation
  • Document management in TAM online
  • Documentation as required
  • Other monitoring, maintenance, and research as assigned
  • Refer business to other divisions
  • Assists with supporting the Compliance and BSA programs of the bank
  • Complete required on-line training and other training as assigned
  • Community involvement and leadership
  • Business development
  • Other duties may be assigned

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year College; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Possess appropriate insurance license.  Property/Casualty and/or Life/Health as determined upon hire.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

Basic personal computers skills required.  Experience with or ability to learn Applied Systems/TAM online agency management software/system.
